When I posted our Christmas decor, I forgot to post the Chalk board sign I made... Anyway.... I am showing it off. :P
My Daddies tool box... Don't ask me why... but it's a special sight to me.. ;)
I went to Grandma's house last Wednesday. She always fixes me tea or cocoa in a tea cup.. We happened to have made sugar cookies and stole some to go along with it.. :)
"It won't be long we'll all be there with snow..." Any time it snows, I always think of this song. One of my favorites, from my favorite Christmas movie... (Well, one of them.)
About a week ago, we were blessed with 9.5 inches of snow!!! The deepest and most long lasting snow in years! It lasted about... Oh.. I would say 8-9 days. It was a lovely sight... and I am sorry to see that it is gone. Here are some pictures, I took of it... :)
When we measured it, it hadn't stopped snowing yet....
Pine Needles...
Snow angels.. :)
Scenery.
Baby Li'ora. She loved the snow! She didn't want to come in... I had to explain to her that the "booboo" she was complaining about, was the cold. After she realized that the "booboo" was cold, she was able to be coaxed inside. :)
Over the days, when the ice and snow began to melt these icicles, became longer and longer.. I would say that they were close to 4 feet long... The reason they kept getting so long, is because they would melt and the refreeze at night.... It was neat to watch.
Icicles.
"When the sun hits this ridge just right, these hills sing." ~Pacha, The Emperors New Groove
Before, it became 9.5 inches. This was only a few hours into the snow fall.
Well... that's the question around here... what have I been up to? Besides the normal chaos that comes with a large family, I have been busy crocheting, baking, wrapping, shopping, and playing in snow.. (Snow Pictures in the next post...) And honestly... it seems much busier when you DO it and don't read it. ;)
I wanted to make some bread to go with dinner last week... and honestly.. I was tired of our recipes.. not to mention every time I made the recipe we had, it never was fluffy and crisp... This recipe is!! And I was so tickled. The whole family loves it, and it is on a constant request. :)
Baking Cookies for a Christmas Party we had last week. It was lots of fun!
The Cookies of Christmas' past, present and future. :D Sugar Cookies that we decorate yearly.... ;)
That is... this recipe is a Christmas Tradition... Li'ora wouldn't stop shoving the cookies in her mouth and... honestly.... I couldn't either. :P
A friend of mine gave me a crochet challenge.. Snowflake ornaments.... They are easy to crochet, but difficult to stiffen... still haven't found the best way. ;)
The Children and I have been colouring here and there too.. ;)
This one is mine...
And this one is Jericho's.... For some reason the other children's colouring pages won't upload.. but they did some pretty ones. :)
I have always love the Song "Hallelujah". It is a sad song.. but I have always love the tune. Well, my Mom found this one... And it is AWESOME! Totally worth listening to.
The Lyrics:
Hallelujah Christmas
I've heard about this baby boy Who's come to earth to bring us joy And I just want to sing this song to you It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth The minor fall, the major lift With every breath I'm singing Hallelujah Hallelujah
A couple came to Bethlehem Expecting child, they searched the inn To find a place for You were coming soon There was no room for them to stay So in a manger filled with hay God's only Son was born, oh Hallelujah Hallelujah
The shepherds left their flocks by night To see this baby wrapped in light A host of angels led them all to You It was just as the angels said You'll find Him in a manger bed Immanuel and Savior, Hallelujah Hallelujah
A star shown bright up in the east To Bethlehem, the wisemen three Came many miles and journeyed long for You And to the place at which You were Their frankincense and gold and myrrh They gave to You and cried out Hallelujah Hallelujah
I know You came to rescue me This baby boy would grow to be A man and one day die for me and you My sins would drive the nails in You That rugged cross was my cross, too Still every breath You drew was Hallelujah Hallelujah
Yes.. it's that time of year already. Time to take the Autumn things down, and put up the Christmas ones up. This year we decided to do a silver and white tree, with some handmade ornaments. Though we haven't been able to get the supplies for the handmade ornaments, I think our tree is still gorgeous! We plan to get the craft items we need later.
What my Momma always taught me about the Christmas Tree... The tree - The cross Christ died on. The lights represent that Jesus is the light of the world. The jewels/ornaments represent His royalty. The star on top the tree represents the star that shone long ago... on that holy night... I love Christmas season.
Some handmade ornaments...I made two of these last year... they go quite well. ;)
One of the Christmas Favorite Books is "How The Grinch Who Stole Christmas". My uncle was down this last weekend and I captured this picture of him and my sister Emma. ;)
All I really want to say is that, I got to change my blog theme today... since thanksgiving/fall season is over, I changed it to snowy greys... Yes, I get excited about silly things like that... On the other hand... I have been working on putting up the Christmas Decorations! I will post pics later... ;) Cheerio!
